Individual Jungian Art SessionsÂ
Individual Jungian art sessions are held on Zoom and offer an opportunity for you to delve deeply into your inner world in a safe, one-on-one space. In these sessions we'll examine the themes of your life through discussion, art-making, dream exploration, writing and bodily exercises.
Jungian art is based on Carl Jung's analytical psychology. Its central principle is to unify unconscious material with consciousness and integrate this knowledge into personal life. Artistic expression serves as a tool to access unconscious feelings and thoughts that influence our lives.
We will examine the patterns and symbols related to your life's themes. You do not need to be an artist or have previous experience or skills with art-making; all that's needed is an openenness to the creative process.
The methods used in the process:
- Discussion: We begin by discussing the current topics and feelings in your life.
- Art-Making and writing: We use various art forms – drawing, painting, or collage – to express and explore unconscious material. We often also write about the artwork created.
- Dreams and Symbols: I encourage you to record your dreams and bring them to the sessions so we can explore their messages and symbolism together.
- Bodily Exercises: Possible body exercises help deepen the connection with yourself and your feelings.
Through a combination of these techniques we aim to identify the prevailing themes and dominant motifs which are currently active in the unconscious. The methods are chosen based on your needs, and each session is individually tailored. For the first session you do not need to prepare in any way but if you have dreams/a dream you would like to discuss you can have that with you.
Through an intutitive, hands on approach we are able to circumvent the limitations of our rational mind allowing us to reach the core of our selves and inner complexes. This understanding can have profound impact on all areas of our life. Some benefits of Jungian art:
